RANDOM JOTTINGS

A blog about music, sports, theatre and rants

I read this book several years ago on the recommendation of Simon whose blog Stuck in a Book is full of books that are right up my street and I find that when I read a book on his say so I inevitably enjoy it even if I am not sure at first.

So a new edition of this arrived on my doorstep and I am delighted to have reviewed it for Shiny New Books. The link is below and please do check it out.  I found this book unbearably sad in its final few pages, such a contrast to the glittering Edwardian whirl that had gone before.

My thanks to the lovely peeps at Shiny who let me review for them. Such a joy.

I knew nothing about this book until it was recommended to me by someone who always chooses the kind of books I like and this was no exception. I found the ending incredibly moving

I have to be in a special mood to enjoy Saki but when so he is perfect!
