RANDOM JOTTINGS

A blog about music, sports, theatre and rants

Hello everyone

ThynnForgive the "shouting" in the title but I wanted to attract your attention.

Several people have commented on Random and I have also received email queries regarding this edition. I did not mention that this is the USA one and though Amazon are selling it it is a tad expensive and some of you who would like to buy it wondered why the UK edition was not available. Another reader who tried to reserve the book at the library was told this was not possible.

I tried to track down some details but in the end contacted Jane Thynne herself and asked her about this and she told me that the UK publication should be out later in the year so if you wish to wait till then to purchase it, then please do.

I love this edition, I find that US books are always beautifully produced (I think their paperbacks are far superior in that  they bend back more easily) and I am delighted to have this copy (I may get the UK one as well…)

Jane will let me know when it is to be published and, rest assured dear readers, I shall Let you Know as I want as many of you as possible to buy it and love it as I did.

And anticipation is always a lovely feeling…..

When I used to visit the USA regularly for work I alwayds used to haunt the bookshops and come back with lovely paperback editions. I find the paper much better as well

Yes, I agree that the American books, especially the paperbacks, lie flat, you don’t have to struggle to keep them open! I bought this edition, I simply couldn’t wait until the English edition was published! I wasn’t disappointed, it was a great read.

Thanks, Elaine. I’ll wait for the UK edition as there are so many other books I want to buy as well and keep hoping it won’t be too long before it is published here.

Oh, yes, U.S. publications are so much better than U.K. ones although, pace Nicola Beauman who believes only her German printer can do this, many U.K. publishers are now producing soft, bendy editions, so kind to arthritic hands…
