Sunday Ramblings

Have not been feeling too good the last two days, seem to have picked up a bit of a bug which has kept me indoors.   A shame as it has been a rather nice day today and i would have liked to have been out and about but no sense repining.   Due to go to London tomorrow for lunch and have had to send a despairing email to cancel hoping that its recipient will see it before jetting out of the USA.   Failing that, will leave a message at the restaurant – I do hate letting people down.

So just a short Ramble today as I am going back to bed in a minute as I was up most of the night feeling dire and with a thumping headache.   I am putting up a couple of photos I took in Aldburgh on Friday whence I went on another lunch, managed to make this one thank goodness and there will be more of that anon.   Don't you just love that blue house?

In the meantime, I will leave you alone and palely loitering…

    We recently lost our 26 year-old nephew after he was stabbed on a night out in London so, although the circumstances are very different, I know exactly what you mean by waves of sorrow. If it’s any consolation I’ve found some comfort in simply immersing myself in the blogs of yourself and countless others and while it doesn’t alter what’s happened it does somehow make me feel better. Anyway I hope you recover from your bug soon. I think you’ll be back to full health well before we see blue skies over Essex again alas!

    Hope that you are getting over your bug. I know that it will take a lot longer to reconcile yourself to the loss of your friend.

    As ever, my thanks for all good wishes. Feeling better today but just a bit fragile. Just a 24 hour thingy, one of those that suddenly come and go out of nowhere and infuriating when they happen. Luckily I managed to contact my lunch date today and it has now been rearranged for Wednesday so feel happier about that. Grey day today which is in keeping with my mood at the moment I am afraid. I keep thinking about my lovely friend Sue and waves of sorrow keep sweeping over me. I know it will get better but am just feeling a bit rubbish that is all

    You have lots of sympathy from me as I am myself laid low with a dreadful cold which turned into bronchitis. Now hoping it doesn’t become something worse. Consoling myself with books and good radio. Hope you are all well very soon indeed. In the meantime, do take care of yourself!!! Rest, good food, pamper yourself!

    I adore Aldeburgh, oh, lucky you going there, but poor you, laid low with a bug. I had one last weekend, it was only for about 24 hours and I felt dire, but I’m glad to report by Monday I was fighting fit again (well as fit as I ever am!) so perhaps yours will only last s short time, too.
    That blue house is beautiful. I don’t normally like blue for exterior paint, except a very dark blue front door in a Georgian terrace house, that sort of thing, but this one is the exception (as is High Cross House at Dartington, near Totnes which was built for the firxt headmaster of Dartington Hall School in the 1930s, and whole wing of that house, otherwise white, is bluebell blue, something like the house in Aldeburgh.)
    Speaking of Aldeburgh and the obvious B Britten connection, have you notice, Elaine, that the incidental music to Peter Grimes is often used on TV programmes these days?
    Oh, I do envy your trip to Aldeburgh!
