RANDOM JOTTINGS

A blog about music, sports, theatre and rants

My apologies for lack of posts this week. I have been pretty busy and all the horrific stuff on the news has rather taken my mind off Random.  I was due to drive into London on Tuesday and my daughter phoned to see if I was still happy to come, they had had no trouble in their area, but she was a bit concerned.  I told her that I was fine with it but if I came across any trouble at all I would turn around and go home.  Nothing happened and all was well.

I won't post about the riots, enough has been said in the papers and various view points expressed by all and sundry so don't want to turn Random into a political page, but just have to say that I find it all deeply disturbing and upsetting and cannot believe that it is all happening.

I turned with relief to the Test Match on the radio this week and somehow listening to the gentle burblings and humour of the commentators made me feel better and assured me that some things will never change.   A quiet couple of days, Pilates this evening and will be back with a review of three terrific crime novels read in the last week.  I seem to be going through a thriller phase at the moment and am thoroughly enjoying it.

But just to remind everyone that despite all the horrors of the week we, here in the UK, do live in a beautiful country so a couple of pictures for you all.

Au reservoir.

No need for apologies! Lovely, peaceful pictures. Thanks for posting them. I think I’m always going through a thriller phase — except when I’m going through a children’s & YA fantasy phase!

You’re right, Elaine, the photos and the cricket are a help!
