Shock horror – the Wire is finished, West Wing finished and now 24. What am I going to do?

Well, House is still on, I am addicted to NCIS which seems to be going strong (but as we are up to series 8 this is not guaranteed) so perhaps I have enough to be going on with. And it appears that a film of 24 is to be made so all is not lost.

Of course, I do have about 100 books on my TBR pile awaiting my attention so not as if I haven't got anything to do…..

Castle is played by the delightful Nathan Fillion: http://www.crimespreecinema.com/2009/10/dvd-review-castle-season-one.html

It’s funny — Over here we love to watch British programs, while you love the American ones. Have you ever watched the program “Criminal Minds”? It is really good. And I also agree with the previous comment and enjoy The Mentalist and Castle.

There’s always Bones, The Mentalist and Castle.

My husband and i are having a bit of a vintage DVD watching session at the moment – we have just finished Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and loved it. On another note – I have enjoyed your revew of Two People (from last year I think) very much and have linked you on my own review at http://www.hannahstoneham.blogspot.com it is so interesting to read other responses to books that we have read I think. Also – i notice that you are reading an Intimate History of the thirties – I finished this a couple of weeks ago and loved it – hope you are enjoying!

Nan – always like to be first with the news….
Margaret – I find that the US series I have watched are realistic, fast, stylish with great scripts. Not all of course, but a lot of them. On this side of the pond I do find Casualty, Holby City, New Tricks, Spooks (trying hard to be cool but failing miserably) a pale imitation
Ruth – I gather this has quite a following – I did watch a couple of the UK version with Kenneth Branagh but it was so unremittingly dreary it made me want to stick my head in the oven so I desisted
Nicola – I bought Series One of Damages in a sale, still to watch it but I will!

My other half suggests you watch Wallender (Swedish version) now on BBC 4 on Saturday ? evening 9-10pm ?

I have not watched any of those American series – I wonder what I’m missing?

I heard it first here! Actually I haven’t watched since the first couple seasons. I also love NCIS. Do you get Numb3rs over there? A good series using math; a good family, great cast. One of my faves. The shows I’ve been loving on dvd from Netflix are from your part of the world: Doc Martin, New Tricks, Pie in the Sky.
