James

Elder daughter with me for a couple of days, hence lack of posting as we have been too busy talking..

So today I am merely going to draw your attention to a wonderfully interesting new book due out in October and published by Yale UP, Pashas by James Mather.  It looks fascinating and I am confident of having a copy given to me personally by the author to read and review come publication day.  The reason I am sure of this is that the author just happens to be my son-in-law and he is as delightful as he is frighteningly brilliant.

When I am somewhat overawed by his intellect I remind myself of the three pieces of my red pepper quiche he ate the other week, plus the very large bowl of strawberries and cream afterwards and I feel better….

I’m a touch too familiar with back trouble so I do sympathise with you, Elaine, but you must be enormously proud of your family (and rightly so) and that joy will ease the pain. All the best to James!

Jan and Simon – the back is now more or less OK. Still locks slightly if I sit too long but other than that, pain free thank heavens. Has lasted longer this time but fingers crossed it won’t happen again for a while.
