RANDOM JOTTINGS

A blog about music, sports, theatre and rants

Lovely quiet day today and this afternoon, armed with bread crumbs and a digital camera, I went in search of the new Swan Family at Bourne Mill, just round the corner from where I live.  They were in hiding so I had to walk round the far side of the lake and I sat down very still and waited and out they came and I managed to get some lovely pictures:

Yes Catharina I believe there is a little baby snuggled down. I sat just totally enchanted watching the family and went round again today and this time they were very close to me so took some more pics. Cannot resist them!
    Maggie – glad you shared!
It is just to beautiful round there, hard to believe it is in the middle of a town.

In the middle of this lake is a coot’s nest so will be keeping an eye out for the hatching. I sat quietly on the edge of the lake for about half an hour waiting for the family to emerge and then just watched them as the parents hovered over their children and made sure they were safe etc. It was beautiful.. I have plenty more pics, I went a bit potty snapping away!

Wonderful! I’ve been watching a swan on her nest for weeks, and they hatched the other door. Seem to have left the area now, though… still a coot’s nest adjacent.
