Here is how my kitchen looked – old cupboards which I painted to cover up their dreadful colour, uneven walls with old tiles, all cluttered and no work space.  On the right you can just see my fridge which had to sit there as I had nowhere else to put it. Please note gap between washing machine and unit, totally wasted space.

And here is the corner and window as it is now.  Extra space, extra work surface and the rest of the kitchen is also wonderful.  I keep wandering in and grinning like an idiot.  It is the most luxurious kitchen I have ever had, designed properly and yes it has taken a hole out of my savings, but oh it is worth it!!  My clock has to go back on the wall and also I will be making a new curtain for the window but I am going to take my time and choose some nice material.

And here is the other end – all that shelf space.  Calloo callay o frabjous day!!

Lovely Elaine! Really pretty and practical. I notice you’ve changed which way round you have the drainer on your sink. I would be totally confused and reaching the wrong way for dirty crocks! My poor brain has trouble when they change ends in a football match. You must have a much more elastic mind than me.

It looks lovely! And well worth the inconvenience!

Lovely. I especially like that you kept the sink by the window, so you can enjoy the view of the garden in all seasons.
And I’m impressed you didn’t feel the need to empty the drainer before taking the picture. That’s just how my counter looks, and I don’t mind in the least. I have nice dishes too.
Yes, a new room makes you grin. I love love love my new bathroom; the only downside is it makes the rest of the house look shabby, so bit by bit I’m painting my way through the upstairs, along the hall, down the stairs, into the living room…. where I’ll eventually meet up with the new(ish) kitchen.

My kitchen is yellow as well (greenish, not orangeish). When my kitchen was first done I used to turn the chair away from the table and sit looking at the cupboards so I know exactly how you feel. That was back in 1993 so it is looking a little battle-weary now.
    ENJOY!

Yellow, yellow, and more yellow. Such a cheerful colour, and one I’ve always loved. Elaine, the kitchen looks fabulous, and I’m grinning at the thought of you standing in it, grinning, because that’s what I do every morning when I wander into mine. It’s almost 4 years since I splashed some colour around in it (including yellow) and it still gives me a thrill to see it.

Love the cabinets, the countertops, the open shelves, and the COLOR. Well done!

Elaine, that is a super kitchen: it is well planned, therefore practical, and also it is pretty. I see you have chosen yellow again for the walls (my fav colour),and if you have a look at Sals Snippets (www.salssnippets.blogspot.com) you will see that she has just had her bathroom done and that is also yellow!
