RANDOM JOTTINGS

A blog about music, sports, theatre and rants

My thanks to those of you who have visited and left comments which I am seemingly ignoring, but not, I promise.  I am going to have a blogging and responding session on Saturday but am going to close up laptop early tonight as my eyes are still so sore and aching with all the screen watching I have done this week in training.

Well, today was my first day ‘proper’ in the office and I managed to survive and not crash the system or lose any documents so fingers crossed, tomorrow is the same.  The firm is practically a paperless office with all filing on ‘virtual’ files.  It is a great concept though it takes a bit of getting used to, but I am sure in a couple of weeks it will be second nature.

So, guess what?  Yep, that’s right.  Another picture.  Gosh, I am glad I took so many. Another one of Wharfedale – it was just so beautiful.

My mother, who sadly died 18 months ago, lived about one mile from Bolton Abbey. Your photos are bringing many happy thoughts and memories for me. Thank you. Good luck with the job.

Lovely photo! Wharfedale is a beautiful place, obviously. I’ve been gone for a long time — try to really limit my internet time — but it’s so nice to drop in and see all is well with Elaine’s random jottings. And you’ve now intrigued me as far as Angela Thirkell is concerned. I’m busy reading lots of foreign fiction right now, but she’s someone to check out when I can get back to novels originally written in English.
Good luck with your new job and I’m really glad for you that it’s part-time. That is definitely the way to go if you can afford it. I advocate it for everyone, even though I may take up a full-time teaching job in January. My family needs the health benefits and that’s the only way now (in America) to get them.
